As Dallas County continues to rapidly grow, crime continues to grow as well. Meggan has extensive trial experience, including homicides, sex assaults, robberies, and many other types of crimes. When crime happens in Dallas County, the citizens deserve to have an experienced prosecutor at the helm, ensuring justice and safety for the community.
With a business background, including an MBA, Meggan has the skills to ensure that the office of the Dallas County Attorney is being effectively and efficiently run. She understands that as a steward of tax dollars, it is the responsibility of the County Attorney to efficiently use the budget to meet the demands of the expanding office, and use the experience she has gained in the largest prosecution office in Iowa to streamline and manage the growth that is yet to come, from additional staff and internalization of resources and processes, to the expansion of use of technology in prosecution.
With 14 years in prosecution, including four years handling mental health and substance abuse committals, and another 3 years in a drug prosecution unit, Meggan knows that drug addiction and mental health needs often go hand-in-hand. She will work with the court system, law enforcement, and local resources to build a mental health/drug court, in which non-violent offenders can receive the resources they need to become safe, productive members of Dallas County again.
